- Canadian Dentist
Doing my BDS in Ragas dental college was great as I got to study under excellent faculty members. Soon after BDS I applied to study Masters in Canada specializing in public health administration. After having completed that, I still needed to get my certification to practice clinical dentistry in Canada. Once I finished my certification in 2017, I was able to travel to remote communities in Canada and practice public health dentistry. I predominantly worked on First Nations Reservations where access to healthcare can be difficult.
The biggest challenge I had to face was multitasking various things in life, while working on my immigration status in Canada. At one point, I was challenging the Canadian dental board exams, my masters degree, interned as a worship leader, and worked full time as a health administrator. For almost 2 years, I slept less than 5 hours a day. Today I am happy to say that I am bringing smiles to a lot of people and that keeps me motivated to achieve and accomplish more in life.
The message I have for dentists out there is - be focussed on what you do.
There will be so many challenges your way. But find your purpose, and focus on your goal.
