While not many have the chance to interact with their teachers these days, I have the opportunity to work with my guru Dr. R. Hariharan, Prosthodontist & Implantologist.
He is a pioneer in Implantology and has conducted various workshops and headed many too. He has served as the mentor for Nobel Biocare and I can go on and on about his accomplishments.
I very precisely remember my first day at work as an intern at his clinic.
When my friends used to complain about holding the suction device, I was here doing fillings and impressions on my first day itself and it's only because of the confidence that Hari sir had in me.
There have been many times when I stumble and say " Sir, will I be able to?.” But, he would very casually say, go ahead.
These words have really brought me a lot ahead in my career.
Today if I can handle any patient not only clinically, but can also handle their demands and doubts, it's because I observed sir who is extremely accommodating to every requirement of the patient.
The most challenging phase for me was during COVID. I had to take a break from work for my 2-year-old son then, and when I approached sir again, all he said was welcome back. Though there were doctors working, he always was inclusive and never made me feel that I was not part of HDC (Haris dental care and implant centre) either during my maternity leave or COVID break.
Forever grateful for shaping my career, and always making me believe that I can do more.
Happy teachers day my dear guru
